Welcome to the Kettering Foundation

This Cousins Research Group Report by the foundation’s president and CEO, David Mathews, provides an introduction to Kettering, including some of its history and the evolution of its research, the unifying objective of which has become “Making democracy work as it should.” The report is divided into two sections. The first is about Kettering’s evolving understanding of democracy and its implications for working with others. The second explains how this understanding of democracy has shaped the way the foundation operates internally.
