Desmond Sprowl is a research assistant at the Kettering Foundation. His research interests focus on public engagement in public administration, as efforts by local governments at citizen engagement activities sometimes fail to substantially engage the community.
Closely related to his research interests, Sprowl’s MPA capstone project focused on best practice research on comprehensive planning and citizen engagement in planning in order to make recommendations for Beavercreek Township, Ohio’s upcoming comprehensive planning process. During the MPA program, Desmond also interned at Re-Imagining America, a citizen-driven change initiative in Dayton, Ohio, that seeks to reimagine how the success of a community is measured and creates new initiatives, informed by new metrics, that improve the region’s collective well-being.
Sprowl holds a BA in political science from Columbia College and an MPA in public administration from Wright State University.
