James Martin, Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

James (Jim) Martin is the Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Kettering Foundation. Martin brings a wealth of experience working as a CFO in the nonprofit sector.

Martin leads Counterpart CFO’s Ohio office, which provides flexible, part-time CFOs and back office advisors for large and small nonprofit organizations. Their specialties include serving as senior financial leadership to an organization; improving financial reporting; allowing for timely and informed decisions; reviewing and establishing internal controls to minimize risk; and evaluating internal operations.

Martin has government, nonprofit, and for-profit Chief Financial Officer experience. He has previously served as the CFO for the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, Ohio Education Association, and Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.

Martin earned an MBA at the Ohio State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO).
