Randy Nielsen is a program officer at the Kettering Foundation. He organizes research into ways that democratic practices and institutions can facilitate the ability of citizens to collectively respond to the challenges of economic change. He also directs studies of ways that citizens and civic associations can engage public education as a shared, civic challenge and thus complement the work of public schools. In addition, Nielsen manages the work of the foundation’s resident research assistants and associates.
Nielsen holds a PhD in economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
