Randall Nielsen, Program Officer

Randy Nielsen is a program officer at the Kettering Foundation. He organizes research into ways that democratic practices and institutions can facilitate the ability of citizens to collectively respond to the chal­lenges of economic change. He also directs studies of ways that citizens and civic associations can engage public education as a shared, civic challenge and thus complement the work of public schools. In addition, Nielsen manages the work of the foundation’s resident research assistants and associates.

Nielsen holds a PhD in economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
