Una Raileqe, International Resident Researcher

Una Raileqe is an international resident researcher at the Kettering Foundation. She is from the Fiji Islands, where she has worked for the last eight years as a community facilitator with citizens in rural communities. The emphasis of her work is on women in rural communities and increasing active engagement in decision-making processes in the community and at all levels.

While at the foundation, Raileqe will focus on the roles of citizens and rural communities in democracy in Fiji’s context. She will examine how her work with rural women has enabled them to have a voice in decisions made in the community and how they have collaborated with other women in their community to take their issues to the local government or the institutions concerned.
