Zarifa Hamidi is a research assistant at the Kettering Foundation.
She was born in Nejrab, Afghanistan, and raised in Kabul. Her experiences under the repressive Taliban regime showed her the importance of promoting and studying democracy.
In 2008 she received a scholarship to attend King’s Academy, a co-ed boarding school, in Madaba, Jordan. She attended Salve Regina University on a full scholarship, where she double majored in political science and economics. While studying, she worked part-time for the Political Science Department.
Her interests include economics, international relations, political science, and foreign policy. She is fluent in Farsi/Dari, English, Arabic, and Pashtu.
